Kenworth Division of PACCAR has an immediate opening for an Engineering Supervisor - Heavy Duty Battery Electric Vehicle in Kirkland, WA.

Job Summary

The Heavy Duty Battery Electric Vehicle Supervisor will be on the forefront of developing new products in the Heavy Duty market segment that support North America’s transition to zero-emission solutions. This role will lead a team of engineers across multiple disciplines to generate and document concepts that will define a full production program set for implementation. Your team will help establish performance targets and the proposed solutions to achieve key vehicle attributes such as vehicle range, weight, payload, wheelbase, cooling capability, and exterior design as examples, and then deliver engineering designs and components to fulfill the program.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to develop concepts for vehicle layout and performance goals. Document assumptions using internal product creation process.

  • Manage team deliverables and balance resources to ensure timely completion of milestones, adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion of tasks.

  • Supervise design and release of components and systems specific to team responsibilities.

  • Coordinate delivery and validation of components leading up to and including the start of production.

  • Collaborate with and obtain agreement from cross-divisional counterparts on global solutions.

  • Work with counterparts throughout PACCAR to provide a global approach to designs and process, and maintain corporate specifications where appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain department and program resource plans and budgets related to the development team.

  • Provide written and verbal updates to PACCAR senior management on product development progress, program objectives, strategic goals, and alignment to roadmaps.

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers across a variety of disciplines.

  • Up to 10% travel (domestic and international).

    Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science required.

  • Industry-related background in the design and specification of automotive or HD truck components, preferably in the field of electric vehicles.

  • 7+ years experience required.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred .

  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques. Be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to deliver technical presentations and written reports to diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve timely objectives.

  • Significant experience with advanced features in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.

  • Willingness to be hands-on, develop prototypes and support on-the-ground testing.

  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) disciplines and tools preferred.

The salary range for Engineering Supervisor-HD BEV is $110,600-$173,000 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
