Description

This position performs high-level clerical and technical duties at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center. We are looking for a candidate who delivers excellent customer service, displays unwavering integrity, fosters teamwork, and finds ways to get to "Yes." As our next Recreation Center Specialist, the candidate will assist with various important support functions such as: assisting citizens, scheduling reservations, maintaining records, processing invoices and deposits, creating newsletters, and much more. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask and prioritize and must be proficient working with RecTrac.

This position is responsible to plan, organize and implement youth and adult activities, special events and recreation programs for various age groups at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center.

This position will work alongside supportive and fun colleagues who are focused on providing the best working environment and experience for the citizens and employees of Lee County.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize files/records.

  • Handle customer service inquiries and prepare daily membership registration and deposit transactions.

  • Prepare correspondence and generate reports.

  • Update and maintain databases and research data.

  • Process invoices and deposits

  • Oversee contracted instructors and volunteers which include processing applications and invoices to submit for payments for programmed classes.

  • Assist with special events such as fun days, spring break camps and summer camps which could include hiring, training and scheduling staff, provide feedback and evaluate summer staff and evaluate the summer program.

  • Input programs/classes into online recreation tracking system (RecTrac), invoice all classes, room rentals and rentals for special events.

  • Create brochures, special event flyers, and marketing material to advertise programs and events.

  • This position is responsible for opening and closing procedures that include printing reports and running checks and balances for all revenues taken in for the day and securing the recreation center.

  • Duties will also include cleaning the facility, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restrooms/locker rooms.

  • Various other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Required Qualifications

  • Any combination of education experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and one year of related experience with high-level clerical and technical duties such as filing, operating office equipment, customer inquiries, preparing correspondences, maintaining databases, and generating reports.

  • First Aid and CPR Training required within six months of hire date or employment will end.

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience within the Parks and Recreation industry.

  • Six months experience working with large groups of children.

Supplemental Information

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Must be able to prioritize, problem-solve, and multitask on a high-volume threshold of more than 30 transactions in an hour while providing excellent customer service.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain positive communication and effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, and members of a diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  • Must be able to operate general office equipment, computers, and be extremely knowledgeable of computer software programs. (MS Excel, Publisher, Word). Canva and RecTrac experience is preferred.

  • Must be able to assess and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints by exercising fair, reliable, objective, valid and sound independent judgment. Using deductive reasoning and critical thinking while maintaining a polite courteous demeanor.

  • Must be able to juggle a multi-line phone system and a two-way radio while utilizing inhouse software to enter, file and retrieve data in relation to memberships, class registration, roster reprints, and financial reports.

  • Knowledgeable in basic mathematics and ability to perform cashier-type transactions maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. These transactions include but are not limited to processing payments by credit card and check, refunding and perform financial deposit transactions.

  • Must be willing and able to perform basic janitorial duties inside and outside the recreation facility including to but not limited to vacuuming, cleaning public restrooms, picking up and taking out trash, setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for meetings and events, work outside during all seasons with the ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Workdays and hours may vary but will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
